He
was married to Exene Cervenka, singer of the punk band X, to whom he is now
divorced. He has a son, Henry, who encouraged him to take on the incredible task
of The Lord of the Rings. Mortensen
is also a painter, musician and poet. His poetry book is called "Ten Last
Night." His artwork was shown in "A Perfect Murder" in the artist's
studio. He also plays jazz music and has released three albums to date.
