The Hobbit
This is the tale of the adventures of a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins. Bilbo would have much rather been left alone until the end of his days to enjoy the peace and quiet of his hobbit hole in the Shire. But, after unexpectedly being thrown into an adventure with a group of dwarves and a wizard name Gandalf, Bilbo’s life was destined to change forever. Masquerading as an expert theif Bilbo is thrown into a world of wolves, goblins, giant eagles, trolls, elves, dragons, and treasure. This is a delightful tale of adventure, companionship, and finding out parts of yourself that you didn’t even know existed. I highly recommend it as an introduction to Tolkien’s work.
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
The Fellowship Of The Ring Middle Earth is faced with its ultimate doom. The dark lord Sauron is desperately seeking the one thing that could give him the power to govern all of middle earth, a single gold ring containing all of his cruelty, power and malice. In order to stop Sauron from his complete domination all of races and peoples must unite in one final stand against evil. The ring, the ultimate possession of power, is given to one of the most unlikely people imaginable, a hobbit named Frodo Baggins. It is Frodo’s task to journey to Mordor, Sauron’s domain, and destroy the One Ring in the fires of Mount Doom. To help him in this task a fellowship is appointed, consisting of elves, dwarves, men, and hobbits. The fate of middle earth is in their hands.
The Two Towers
This is the continued story of the fight against Sauron. The fellowship is now broken and their paths are carrying each of them in different directions. However each member has an important part to play yet in the battle and the history of Middle Earth. Unlikely alliances are formed, betrayal is made evident, and courage and hope are desperately searched for. As the races of middle earth prepare for war, Sam and Frodo are left alone to face the hopeless task of journeying through Mordor and destroying the One Ring.
The Return of the King
In this last installment of the trilogy, Frodo reaches the final league of his journey, with his faithful companion Sam at his side. The great city of Gondor is in danger of falling, and Aragorn, the heir to it’s throne, is facing his moment of truth. The war of Middle Earth’s history is unfolding and the fate of all is soon to be decided.
Unfinished Tales of Númenor and Middle-earth
Is a collection of narratives from The Elder Days until the days of the War of the Ring that contain such various elements as the complete knowledge of the five wizards and the Palantíri, and the legend of Amroth or the emergence of Ulmo the sea-god in front of Tuor on the coast of Beleriand. It also contains an exact description of the military organisation of the riders of Rohan as well as several reproduced maps of Middle-earth. The History of Middle-Earth
